Vegan Mozzarella Offers Pizza Makers a Plant-based Substitute
NUMU Vegan Cheese said it’s making a positive impression on the New York City pizza scene with its NUMU Vegan Mozzarella, a stretchy 100% vegan cheese replacement. The plant-based mozzarella is currently available at New York pizzerias including Paulie Gee’s, Motorino, Belluci’s and Scarr’s, and restaurants and delis such as Gallioto’s Vegan Italian Deli and Orchard Grocer.
Brooklyn, N.Y.-based NUMU Vegan Cheese says its mozzarella melts smooth, has no aftertaste and delivers a clean, creamy flavor. With its base ingredients of potato starch, soybeans and coconut oil, NUMU is Kosher and free of dairy, lactose, casein, nuts and is non-GMO.
NUMU Vegan Mozzarella is currently available to foodservice vendors in ready-to-use shreds and fresh blocks. The company is also actively developing a number of other varieties of vegan cheese. The company said it’s continuing to explore new restaurant partnerships and distributor relationships nationwide.
