PetWellClinic Plans ‘Massive’ Expansion as Pet Ownership on the Rise

Sixty-seven percent of households have at least one pet and that number is expected to rise as months of COVID-19 quarantine drove people to seek companionship and acquire pets, according to the 2019-2020 AAPA National Pet Owners Survey.

As a result, investment firm Westside Franchise Brands CEO Robert Huntington said he sees a bright future for Knoxville, Tenn.-based PetWellClinic. “The pet care industry is steadily growing and the services have not caught up to the demand,” he said. “People want convenient, affordable care for their pets on-demand. When I met Dr. Sam [Meisler] and the PetWellClinic team, I knew they had something special on their hands.

Meisler, a veterinarian and self-taught programmer, founded PetWellClinic in 2010. He grew the number of company locations to 3 before deciding to franchise in 2019. Meisler recently opened a fourth PetWellClinic and a franchisee planning to open this year in Knoxville.

Meisler said his decades of studying the veterinary world and his determination to create simple systems, including proprietary veterinary business management technology for streamlined operations, can be easily trained and replicated.

Westside Franchise Brands acquired the area development rights to develop franchises in New Jersey as part of the investment deal. The firm hopes to hope the first location in 2020 and many more over the next 5 to 7 years.
