Lexus Partners With California Hotels to ‘Elevate’ the Road Trip

After more than a year of being quarantined, people are ready for an escape. Lexus wants to give it to them with its new “Retreats in Motion” program, which offers five-day, four-night driving retreats in a new 2021 Lexus IS as guests travel between two of its luxury hotel partners in California.

“These days, the desire to escape on the open road to rejuvenate mind and spirit has never been more enticing,” Lexus Vice President of Marketing Vinay Shahani said. “The ‘Retreats in Motion’ program not only provides perfectly planned, luxurious getaways in a Lexus vehicle, but they also elevate the classic road trip with much-needed recuperative experiences.”

The company partnered with five California-based resorts for the program: Cavallo Point in Sausalito, Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur, Bardessono Hotel and Spa in Yountville, Pebble Beach Resorts in Pebble Beach, and Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes. According to Lexus, each hotel was hand-picked for its strong service, exceptional design, and culinary offerings.

This coming Spring, Lexus will add destinations in Massachusetts: XV Beacon Hotel in Boston and Chatham Bars Inn in Chatham. California guests will drive an average of three hours between each hotel, but Lexus has taken steps to ensure that they get the most out of their travels.

When customers are paired with the Lexus IS at their originating hotel, they will travel on a customized route that features suggested stops and wellness activities. According to Lexus, this will allow travelers to enjoy beautiful views, participate in aromatherapy or guided breathwork, and finish each day with gourmet meals. Each vehicle also features a mobile wellness kit.

For the program, Lexus partnered with mindbodygreen — a health and well-being lifestyle media brand — to create custom content. These include podcasts on sustainability with author Jonathan Safran Foer and a guided walking meditation with teacher Mary Beth LaRue.

The content also includes an immersive in-car sound bath with expert Sara Auster, which is designed to clear energy blockages and provide listeners with calm. “mindbodygreen has enjoyed being a trusted destination and resource for well-being for over 11 years, bringing together experts across all facets of health and wellness for our collective audience,” commented Colleen Wachob, the co-founder and co-CEO of mindbodygreen.

“Our team is so excited to work with an innovative, forward-thinking brand like Lexus on this partnership,” she added. “Together, we’re creating something really unique and so vital to people’s well-being.”
