Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of La Quinta by Wyndham Selma in Selma, N.C., the 120th hotel in the La Quinta portfolio. The hotel also features the new Del Sol prototype, which features a stylish design focused on offering comfort and convenience while enabling productivity, which will appeal to business and leisure travelers.

The new hotel, which is owned by the Jay Sai Corp., has 80 modern guestrooms, a sleek lobby design and outdoor pool. “This is a milestone opening for the La Quinta by Wyndham brand, and we’re proud to unveil this innovative new property,” said Krishna Paliwal, Wyndham’s president of La Quinta and the head of architecture, design and construction.

“We’ve seen huge demand for this stylish, modern prototype, which offers a comfortable stay with contemporary rooms and thoughtful amenities for guests,” Paliwal added. “It’s a great investment opportunity for hotel owners.”

Wyndham acquired the La Quinta brand in 2018. Since then, 122 new franchise contracts have been executed and La Quinta has been one of the strongest performing brands during the COVID-19 pandemic, earning 490 basis points of RevPAR Index in 2020 against its competitive set, according to STR data.

Currently, La Quinta has nearly 940 locations in the United States, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Turkey and New Zealand. Wyndham reports that there are 175 La Quinta hotels in the development pipeline, with openings scheduled this year in markets such as Nashville, Tenn.; Santa Cruz, Calif.; Austin, Texas; Brooklyn, N.Y.; Denver; and Corpus Christi, Texas.

The brand is set to open the second Del Sol prototype in Gavelston, Texas, later this summer, and another hotel in South Bend, Ind., in the third quarter of 2021. In addition, Wyndham has plans to bring La Quinta to the Dominican Republic, China, United Arab Emirates and Georgia.
